Tuesday
i really like the new vw golf advert. it uses extreme editing to create the adverts soundtrack. kinda reminds me of the honda advert that uses the choir singers to make the sound of the car. from what i can tell it's meant to show that the golf is a car for all seasons. check out the advert on youtube here.
van she
van she the darlings of modular records have a new single out called strangers. think they might have been spending too much time with label mates cut copy. strangers features a much more electro feel than previous releases such as sex city and kelly. think it might take a few listens before i know whether i like it or not. check it out on my muxtape.

80's revival
according to some we're in the middle of a 80's revival. which is no bad thing as long as that doesn't include the revival of thatcher (shudders). anyway just found a very cool muxtape that celebrates some of the best music from the 80's. listen to it here. if you've got a muxtape feel free to share, i'm slightly addicted to it at the moment so need to feed my addiction.

fair threads
the bbc have just launched a site that i had thought about launching myself lol. it's a fashion site called thread, which looks at clothing styles that can be created with clothes which are manufactured ethically. check out the site here. nice design, not sure if the navigation is slightly confusing but nice all the same. also not sure if it really fits in with the beebs remit.
Wednesday
move over duffy
the overrated welsh soul singer, duffy has competition in the form of belleruche. mixing a laid back soul style with scratchy electro inspired elements. which could be best discribed as amy winehouse plugged into the mains. belleruche should be bigger than she/they are. check out my muxtape to hear minor swing my fave track from their new album, turntable soul music. i'm sure you'll be hearing more about belleruche soon.

mixing it up
just found a very cool blog, by two people called simon and garfield (not simon and garfunkel which is what i first read it as lol). they plan to make 99 album covers for mixtapes/disks they've produced. some really nice hand made stuff. really inspiring, never again will i just chuck my mix disks in one of them plastic sleeves. look here
summer heights high
i've been watching this really cool, australian comedy called summer heights high. it's set in an australian high school and revolves around three characters. 'mr g' a very camp drama teacher with delusion of grandeur, ja'ime an exchange student from a expensive private school and jonah a polynesian yr 8 boy with behavioral problems. all three characters are played by chris lilley, an australian comedian. it's much better than it sounds. check it out on youtube. you won't be sorry.
Monday
fluid
just discovered a program called fluid for mac osx (leopard only i'm afraid) which lets you create apps, based on web 2.0 services. each app that you create opens in it's own program window, which is based on the safari engine. i've set it up so i can quickly get into gmail from my dock. check out and download fluid here.

are tesco nazis ?
well if you believe what asda say they are. i've just noticed that in the new adverts for asda, the one with the arrows. they use a ska style version of the theme tune to dads army. and we all know the lyrics to that song. check out the advert here. i'm not the only person that has noticed this, check here and here. i'm amazed that no one's complained, especially tesco.
update : something else that has been brought up on other blogs, is the fact that tesco was founded my a jewish man (the co part derived from the surname cohen) which makes the asda adverts even more disturbing.

lost and found
i've been looking through some of my old bookmarks. i've rediscovered some really cool site, so i've decided to post a few of my bookmarks over the next few days. the first site is prickie. prickie has a massive collection of button badges from some really cool designers and illustrators. plus prices are quite good too.
update : just had a proper look on the prickie site and noticed that the shop is closed until the site gets more funding, which is shit. hopefully it'll be back soon. you can see look at all the badges though.

fun house
a pair of architects have designed and built a house which they say helps you overcome death. take a look at this article which tries to explain they're thinking behind the house. i'm still slightly confused by the whole concept. but the house does look cool.

engadget goes magenta
yesterday i posted a link to the letter that t-mobile sent to engadget asking them to stop using magenta in their logo. heres the post if you missed it. well today as a sort of act of giving t-mobile the finger they have given themselves a magenta wallpaper. have a look here. have t-mobile met their match ?
