just jack - all night cinema

just jack's new album 'all night cinema' was released on monday. it's been awhile since we last heard anything from jack, so it's been quite a nice surprise to see him come back with some very strong material. the album starts with the orchestral, ad-mans wet dream of a track 'embers'. which sets the tone, for the rest of the album as a much more polished, produced and mainstream pop affair compared to the previous album 'overtones'. album highlights have to be 'the day i died', 'doctor doctor' and 'goth in a disco'. the last one mainly just because of it's slightly left-field subject matter :/. anyway you can hear the entire album right now on spotify and it's also available to download from itunes, all the links are below, as well as a very cool acoustic version of 'the day i died'. let me know what you think in the usual ways.

mika-ing a comeback

mika the tall curly haired, high pitch singer has a new single and album on the horizon. both called 'we are golden', the single is due for release 6th september with the album following on 21st september. it may be a couple of months away from release, but the amazing don diablo has already managed to bang out a massive 6 minute remix, i've not even managed to hear the radio edit to this yet, but this remix is amazing.

just jack is making a comeback with two, new tracks on his myspace '253' and 'doctor doctor'. taking the trademark cheerful tunes and quite dark lyrics and taking a slight lead from miss nash and miss allen. not sure if the new tracks really push his sound forward and does seem to be pretty samey to previous offerings. take a listen and let me know what you think.

ok so i've not given, florence & the machine much love .... infact i've not give her any love on here. mainly because i'm a marina & the diamonds fan and find florence just a bit shouty and a bit too polished. but i've just seen crazy video, someone put together for her single 'rabbit heart (raise it up)' which made me think she isn't that bad. so in the interest of balanced and fair blogging i'm posting said video. enjoy :)

feeling the passion

the blogosphere has been alight over the last few days, after the leaking of passion pit's new album 'manners' which is due for release on may 18th. so i thought i'd see what all the fuss was about. i can best describe them as a electro, more up beat version of the shins, which is no bad thing. looks like this band are gonna be dominating my summer time listening. dont just take my word for it heres a couple of tracks to help you make up your mind.
